"let your spirit create the noble vision, your mind make the detailed plans,
and your feelings energize you as you gallop toward your goal."

The Wholistic Community Network was created as an instrument for change. We recognize that creating change in the world is a process that begins with a clear vision, continues with detailed, step-by-step planning, and becomes a reality when we act with determination and persistence on our plans.

Our vision is a wide one: balanced people living in a harmonious world. Our plans are to organize a number of educational activities that will help people learn the system of beliefs, values, and lifeskills we call wholism. Our actions take the form of the following activities, led by Michael Greenstein, the WCN's founder:

Talks: Michael encourages audiences to consider the possibilities of living in a more balanced way; a wholistic way. He discusses the need to actively use all parts of our being in our daily life and describes how wholistic practices can help us overcome the challenges of living in a materialistic and competitive world. His hope is that we may all become people who have clever minds and kind hearts.

Details: His talks are normally 1 - 3 hrs in length and he welcomes questions from the audience. His speaking fees range from no charge to four figures, based on the setting, sponsor, audience, etc.. His free introductory talks are often followed by paid workshops. Some of the themes and titles of his talks are:

  • Living in Balance and Harmony, the Wholistic Approach
  • The Top Ten Lifeskills Needed to Thrive in the 21st Century
  • Wholism, A New Model for 21st Century Living
  • Finding Balance in an Unbalanced World

Workshops: Michael's workshops are designed to help participants develop a greater understanding of a specific subject or theme, when seen from a wholistic perspective. They differ from his talks in the amount and depth of information he provides, and the degree of personal interaction that occurs between Michael and the participants. Michael makes the workshop itself a wholistic experience by using learning methods that involve feeling, moving, and being quiet; as well as thinking. His workshop motto: "Use your whole being!"

Details Workshops range from 3 hrs - 3 days; fees range from $ 35 - $ 500 per participant; handout material is provided; and all workshops are "personalized" for each group. Some workshop themes and titles include:

  • Managing Depression (or Anxiety, Stress, Crisis), A Wholistic Approach
  • Ten Lifeskills to Survive and Thrive in the 21st Century
  • A Whole Person Health Program, Exercises for Body, Mind, and Spirit
  • Getting off the Treadmill, Creating a New, Balanced Life

Courses: Michael would like to offer wholistic education courses in different venues including community colleges, adult education centres, community centres, etc. His course content is equally divided between a big picture look at wholistic principles and the practical application of wholistic lifeskills. As in his workshops, Michael's teaching approach is to involve the whole person in the learning experience so students should be prepared to do more than sit at a desk and take notes.

Details: Courses can range in length from 8 - 16 weeks, fees can range from $ 75 - $ 500 per participant. Some course themes and titles include:

  • The Principles and Practices of Wholistic Health (or Education, or Business)
  • The Critical Lifeskills for 21st Century Living
  • Wholism, a New Paradigm for the 21st Century

Conferences: The WCN wants to partner with universities, health institutions, spiritual associations, business organizations, etc. to organize conferences in which the wholistic model can be explored in terms of our partner's prime interest. Example 1. We can partner with a teaching hospital and organize a conference entitled; The Principles and Practices of Wholistic Health. Example 2. We can partner with a business organization and organize a conference entitled; Running A Sustainable, Socially Aware Business. If your organization would be interested in co-organizing such a conference, please contact Michael. (contact info below)

Special Gatherings: In the balanced world we envision, scientists will have an active spiritual life and people on a spiritual, religious, or personal growth path will have a good understanding of and respect for science. The special gatherings organized by the WCN are opportunities for members of these somewhat isolated communities to meet together to dialogue, exchange information, find commom purpose, and experience personal growth. We are beginning the organization of these gatherings this year (2006). By becoming a WCN member you will not only be informed when these gatherings occur but can participate in their planning.

Individual Coaching: Michael reserves several hours each week to offer individual coaching. With an eclectic, 35 year working background involving physical education, psychotherapy, small business ownership and consulting, computer tutoring, and web / print media design, he has a large repertoire of skills to offer his clients. In the past he would offer single-skill sessions e.g. a business consultation or a computer lesson, but is now moving toward wholistic "packages" that involve working on multiple life areas in the same session, e.g. dealing with a personal issue, discussing small business strategy, and doing stress-reduction or stength-building exercises. Michael's fees range from $ 40.00 - $ 150.00 /session.

Contact Information: If you or your organization are interested in any of the activities listed above, please contact Michael Greenstein; michael@wholcom.net. Please include your phone number in your e-mail.
